Sat, Mon&Sun

Just another Monday morning.

Actually I used to hate Monday's but when you're home slacking and unable to do anything due to some reasons i rather not say out in fear of getting slice and dice; and waiting for Beauty College to start in November, Monday's are now just another boring day.
I sort of over slept this morning hahax.
I actually suppose to wake up at 7.50 and take care of the dog. But last weekend has been really fun, going out all day especially on Saturday! Yes! I am FINALLY talking about Saturday. A day I'll never forget and a day that I shall one day get back on everyone for *evil grins*

Before I left the house to head for church for homosexual seminar from 10am-3pm, I got nagged for wearing slippers.Nice.
Yea, you heard me! H-O-M-0-S-E-X-U-A-L S-E-M-I-N-A-R!
Got there almost 30minutes late after the seminar started.
Ryan picked sis and I up late and we wen for breakfast.
When we got there and took our seats at a deserted area.
But we couldn't avoid the awkward stares; we're pretty much used to it by now.
Then emotions kicked in at full blast towards a few people.
Not good, not good at all.
The seminar was good.
It was a good basic knowledge on what causes a person to choose the path of homosexuality or being a trans gender.
After that went back home slacked around. Drank Pink Vodka.
Josiah picked me up..bought tickets...went to make contacts...watched idiotic Thai flick 4bia.
Which I covered my face from the screen through out the whole damn show!
I do not watch horror flicks!
Yes! I hate horror flicks.
After that went to Gill's Cafe for dinner which I stole food from Christine, Josiah, Amanda and Gideon cause I wasn't hungry after stuffing my face in large caramel popcorn just to avoid looking at the big screen.
Then dirty little secrets were poured out, secrets from the past long forgotten and brought back for the sake of laughs. We have nothing to hide from each other.

Sunday morning, dad was sick, mom stayed home. Jenn got nagged for coming home passed midnight.
Nagged cause it ain't safe at my area past 11pm.
Went to church.
Childrens' special yesterday.
Wasn't listening.
Took pics of toddlers with Gid's cam.
After church;
Lunch pan mee.
Then I dragged Ryan and sis with me to Midvalley to check out ACGC.
Where we took pictures of cosplay participants.
Pictures at Tainted
Some were happy to pose for us, only two were pretty stuck up towards us.
Overall had a great time and I am more than determine to one day participate in the event myself!
Have been checking out about it and finding out stuff about cosplaying.
Sis bought me a belated birthday chocolate mud cake.
Bless her soul!
Came home tired..ate cake and drank finish my Pink Vodka for dinner.
Watched TMNT on Astro and had a hard time falling asleep.

Monday morning. Woke up got nagged and mom says do something about your eye or you'll go blind.
Wow. Thanks. *swt*!
Played a lot with Ginger.
Avril Lavigne's DVD Rip, The Best Damn Tour concert in Toronto just downloaded finish.
More nagging from mom.
More ridiculous nagging from dad.
Jenn pissed off.
Missed another episode of Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
but at least I got to see hottie Thomas Dekker
Read Bleach online and search more on Cosplays.
Watching Amazing Race US now.
Having a headache.
That's pretty much all.
Yes, I live a BORING life.

We are Drama.

I once told my friend that my life's experience is so dramatic that I can actually sell it as a script to be made into a series.
Things have always been very complicated.
My relationship with Christine has always been very strange.
Kind of like Gossip Girls' Serena Van der Woodson and Blair Waldorf.
Two Queen Bee's two best friend, two very different people.
We know how to be a bitch, but whose a bigger bitch?
That's something we don't even want to talk about.
We dated each others ex-es.
We both have dark secrets.
And we love each other.
We fight among each other.
We cry together;
Laugh;
Scream.
And we love each others company, that's for sure.
We've gone through a lot in life, seriously a lot.
And thing have to an extend of being really bad but we always find a way to work it out.
Here's a lil inside on our friendship.
We both have deep dark secrets that we both know of and are not proud of.
She dated my ex, I dated hers.
And both of them have just messed up our lives and left us having an extreme bad impression of them now.
The guy she likes was once into me.
And we liked the same guy who now we laugh at and call a moron.
She dated a guy who in the end was really into me.
She got to know a guy who was crazy about me.
And now I'm having a hard time getting over a person who she's known all her life.
And she's more than just my girlfriend.
She's my Ino-chan.
And we're both single;
just the way we want it.

What's this?

My birthday has passed 15minutes ago...they've been a lot of things going on for the past two weeks and I am to blame. My heart feels empty and my stomach feels funny. And my mouth is dry. And I have the urge to want to puke. I don't know what to do.
I can't sleep, I've been feeling down all day.
Is it karma?
I don't care who reads this; I have nothing to hide.
But I'm feeling confuse and definitely upset.
And I can't say it out cause it'll just confirm my paranoia.
When will the drama end?

Early B'day dinner at Chilli's

Yup, I finally have all the pictures I need and I've pretty much posted the ones I really like on deviantART, Facebook and Friendster;

Not all of them have the same pictures. There are two photos that were not post on my Facebook or Friendster album but posted on my deviantART.

Part of my B'day Card

The day started off with Christine picking me and Amanda up where we met up with Angeline and the four of us headed over to MPH, cause Christine said she needed to buy "something".
Well Amanda bought next months issue of CLEO, Angeline bought a novel and so did I. Just not the one I wanted cause they didn't have the soft cover copy yet.
When we got into MPH we sort of automatically separated, they didn't have to try and chase me away cause I walked off on my own to find a book LOLX! Then Angeline and I decided to head off to Chilli's first to beat the crowd so we wouldn't have to wait for a table if we had gone there later. We ended up reaching there before 5.30!! And Gideon hadn't even arrive in Midvalley yet!

So we talk our own girlie talk and chowed down on Tortilla chips sipping on Guava Juice (mine) and Ice Lemon Tea for Angeline.

Then Angeline had to go and escort Amanda, Christine and Gideon into Chilli's.
And because they were late and sort of their peace offering to me was a balloon they stole from the counter for KIDS! Shame on them lolx.

It says "Ask About Kids Eat Free". whatever that means.

Then when it came time to order that's when things got a little crazy;
It was a little too much swearing and a little too loud lolx. But everything went well overall,
guess the swearing was cause I was a lil hungry and it was those days where every woman dreads! And it's Gid! It's what he does! It's what we both do quite frequently when we're together and I'm sure we're both not proud about it...right Gid?!
Then it came time to order our Margaritas which I didn't want to order just yet. You can't drink on an empty stomach! So I actually asked the waiter to come back at 6.30 since Happy Hour was from 3pm-7pm. And surprisingly he did come back! He was a really nice guy and obviously found us very amusing and comical. And he asked for our IDs!!! He said "No offence but I need to see your IDs, cause I need to be sure you're both old enough". OK, I'll admit I went what the hell in my head. Cause this ain't the first time people didn't believe my age! Bleh! And Gid blame Amanda and Christine for the waiter not believing we were old enough to legally drink in public.
Then came the food. Trust me it was really filling!
Cesar Salad

Mushroom Fajita.

Bread for the fajita, and there was cheese, chopped tomato and onions and guacamole to go with it in a tiny dish.
We spent the rest of the night being Cam whores! Laughing and just having a blast! Talking about things that we all could join in on and that was the best thing ever us all on the same page and just getting along. And of course the girls kacau Gid. They pushed all the salt into his Margarita..Girls, you're suppose to drink it then lick a bit of the salt.

And when I was asked to down my whole mug of Margarita in one shot. I decided to try Gid's margarita again after the girls salted it up and this was the result-

It taste SO salty!

Gid himself couldn't even finish it up! Then the girls decided to make me the last mushroom Fajita. Here is the process of making it.

Four steps of how Angeline, Amanda and Christine made it. Amanda was actually instructing them. Once again click on it for full view.

And it was so full! My gosh! And Angeline was rushing me to suck up the juice cause they dip jalapeno and crush tortilla chips in it! OK, I didn't want to be feed I rather eat it myself and I sticked out my tongue to actually lick up the dripping sauce! XD

Then Gideon actually excused himself to the bathroom to change his tampons it was a joke of ours of the night. And I excused myself later and dragged Angeline with me to the bathroom. When we came back and were seated down once again, I saw the waiters coming over with a "cake" and a canddle. And Christine, Amanda, Angeline and Gideon were acting so dumb by going "Oh, look it's someones birthday! I wonder who?" and I went "yah..." and then they all started singing OK..that was cool until they went "Happy Birthday to JENNIFER!" Real loud! I went great now the whole world knows my name.

Technically it's a brownie and the inside is ice cream and it taste
SO GOOD!

I'm making a wish

Blowing out the candle.

And the old and humiliating not to mention annoying Birthday torture;
Pull the candle out with your mouth! Do you know how dirty it it? This is my 1st and last
time doing it. Seriously.

And before we left our table for the poor hungry people outside waiting to be seated we took a few group pictures. Christine set the timer and we put the camera on the booth and I had to run over and squeeze in, and I wasn't feeling to well so the running and squeezing and posing wasn't a good idea for my head and stomach hahax.

Click on the picture for full view. I had this idea from the car sticker on Christine's car.
The famous "See no evil, Speak no evil and Hear no evil."
Here's our upgraded version of it.
We had so much fun that night but had to rush off at about 8 cause Gideon had to do some last minute shopping for working clothes cause he starts work today. And I was feeling pretty sick so Amanda and Christine took turns accompanying me sit around Midvalley lolx. While Angeline had to go home already. When Gideon FINALLY was done and that was when the shops were closing for the night. We decided to head off for round 2 at McDonald's! To satisfy Gid's craving for Coke Light and fries and nuggets for the girls. On the ride there Amanda got pretty annoyed with Gid and threaten to kick him out of the car. Christine being the driver actually unlock the car and Amanda opened the door for Gideon to get out when the car stopped. And we were singing and blasting music cause Christine had a huge sub woofer speaker at the trunk of her car.

Gift from Christine, a Gloomy Bear that I named Limoncello. Yes it's after a shot.

Thx guys for the great night out.

Burp!

OK...so I've been reading Bleach all day cause it's addictive. But I also have been kicking DQ's ass in Hexic..And I played with my dog..so she's all glued to me now. But I've also spent sometime searching on the web for some stuff that I like. Don't worry it ain't anything X-rated...SHISH! And of course DQ and I were also talking about the Youth Force T-shirt design. Well since I have nothing to do...at first I didn't even bother about it since I've so hopelessly uncreative! Although I like to make handmade cards for people for Valentines day- but I didn't make any this year BUAHAHAHAHA...but maybe Christmas. Owell anyway I actually originally planned to do the design with Christine hahax...since she's good at making it happen and I'm just the moron with weird ideas...But she insisted we entered our own entries and critique each other and give opinion on each other's design..bah! So OK..whatever I went along with it. I don't really care about the price anyway. Since I like all these arts stuff..so sure whatever at least I can wrack my brain for something useful until college starts in November. And DQ is all bugging me that he wants the price...sure..I may not be interested in it but that doesn't mean I ain't going to give in my all to make my ideas happen. Haha..!

Messy Nails/wish list?

I know that ever since I've been officially back from NS I've been having my nails painted hahax..from black..as always to red and GREEN and pink..and actually I've gotten kind of lazy to paint today so skip the top coat after painting my nails black; it's pretty messy but whatever.

And since my birthday is coming, this is the first time ever I've actually have a written out wish list! Lolx..

Well I actually really want a digital cam since my old one got stolen due to snatch thief's. So yeah..
And I love hoodies! In case you don't know what I'm talking about it's jacket with hoods. And yah, I love to walk around church or outside where ever with my hood on. So I just love hoodies and the more the marrier! The more edgy, unique and punk style it is the happier I will be! Especially if it's black and shocking pink! And the inside of the hood is a different color.

And my left eye feels swallon. =(

Avril's Concert In Sg (taken from MTVasia webby)

I don't really agree with what she said on it not being the Best Damn Concert; cause it was to me despite the fact it was short. Cause Avril has talent and she's the shy type. So I'm not suprise that she didn't talk much like usually how the stars do in concert. It was all about her performance as a singer/performer and she did AWESOME!

Singapore
Singapore Indoor Stadium
September 07, 2008

'Pretty in Punk' was definitely the order of the day, as scores of teenyboppers dressed up in the style of their favorite punk princess, Avril Lavigne. Think: skinny ties, knee-high socks, and the ubiquituous skull-and-crossbones. Oh, and plenty of the hottest pink around, of course.

After an hour and fifteen minutes of waiting, the pint-sized rocker finally deigned to make an entrance at 9.15pm (about time...), with her rousing crowd-pleaser "Girlfriend." The patient audience was treated to pink overload as the backdrop of the stage revealed Lavigne's pink, signature skull-and-crossbones banner. With every few songs, Avril would flash a cheeky grin, and flit backstage, presumably for a touch-up, clothing change, a gulp of water, who knows? But in her stead, would come dancers to entertain the crowd with a spot of breakdance.

Let it be said, once and for all, that Avril Lavigne can sing. Oh, she's no Mariah Carey, that's for sure. And she does play safe by not stretching her vocals just in case she doesn't hit the notes the way she does in the studio. But for all the criticism panning the young punkster for her less-than-perfect vocals, Avril has indeed improved by leaps and bounds.

She handled screamy, girl-power anthems like "The Best Damn Thing," "He Wasn't" and "I Can Do Better" rather admirably. Her vocals were steady, at least, and not as pitchy as expected. It was also a pleasant surprise to have a grand piano (pink, duh!) wheeled out, where Lavigne launched into a laudable effort at the heartrending "When You're Gone."

Although there wasn't much interaction with the crowd beyond the usual "Hello Singapore!"-"How are you doing?"-"Are you having fun?" routine, Avril did display a relatively warm stage persona. At one point, she was even playfully directing her band and the crowd with hand signals, which was actually pretty endearing.

There was an even mix of songs from all three of her albums. But one gripe among several was that Lavigne only sang a few songs to completion. A lot of them were just verse-chorus snippets. A disappointment for some, who like me, wanted to hear our favorite hits in full. The fact that there was even an encore also escaped our notice.

Lavigne last disappeared backstage yet again, and a change of backdrop and outfit later, came out spouting the rap for the remixed version of "Girlfriend." Suffice to say, I'm not the only one who didn't realize that this was the implicit signal of an encore performance. With the mother of all tracks, for skater boys out there who fall hopelessly in love with snooty brats, Lavigne closed the Singapore leg of her concert with happy "Thank You's" and "I Love You's."

As much as Lavigne is perky and adorable, there was a sore lack of the adrenaline high which usually followed after a good, stimulating concert. Instead, a feeling of dissatisfaction settled in as the concert ended after a mere hour and fifteen minutes, just when you're about to hit the high.

Avril Lavigne might be the reigning punk princess, but this was certainly not the best damn tour around.

Set List:
1) Girlfriend
2) I Can Do Better
3) My Happy Ending
4) Don't Tell Me
5) I'm With You
6) I Always Get What I Want
7) When You're Gone
8) Innocence
9) Hot
10) Losing Grip
11) The Best Damn Thing
12) Everything Back But You
13) I Don't Have To Try
14) Complicated
15) Runaway
16) He Wasn't

Encore:
17) Girlfriend (Remix)
18) Sk8er Boi

More News On Avril (taken from ABS-CBN News Online)

Review: One rocking night with Avril

By Mark Vincent D. Telan
abs-cbnNEWS.com

Usual Wednesday morning. Workday. I really had nothing exciting to look forward to. Not until my officemate told me as soon as I arrived at the office that she has 2 tickets for the Avril Lavigne concert.

And the better part of it was that she asked me to go with her! I had no choice but to say YES. (As if I was forced to!) Who am I to turn down such an unexpected blessing to witness “The Best Damn Tour Concert”?

In an interview before the concert, Avril Lavigne promised a more “upbeat”and “fun” type of performance for the night, as she selected her favorite songs from three of her albums. And with the inclusion of back-up dancers, she’s confident that the Filipino crowd will love her comeback concert, she added.

I wasn’t able to watch Avril’s first concert three years ago, but I must say that as early as the first song, I began to feel that I was in for a fun and energetic treat.

Energy and talent

People screamed and shouted as the lights went out. Excitement filled the air. And as soon as the band started playing, people forgot the fact that the show started 30 minutes late. (The show was supposed to start at 8 pm.)

My night with Avril started as she performed the hit song “Girlfriend” with her back-up dancers. Most of the crowd stood up to catch a better glimpse of the "punk princess" on her first song.

Pinoys love Avril for her radio hits. On Wednesday night, Avril proved that she’s worthy of the punk princess title simply because she knows how to rock in more ways than one.

Aside from watching Avril’s hip and energetic song-and dance numbers, the audience was able to get a glimpse of her talent in playing various musical instruments.

She serenaded the crowd with her song “When You’re Gone” while playing the piano. Then soon after, she rocked Araneta Coliseum as she sang “Runaway” while playing the drums.

More than her talents in performing, it’s her rapport that captivated the audience. There was never a dull moment during the concert, thanks to the interaction between Avril and the fans. People enthusiastically cheered and clapped and shouted. And as expected, people sang with the punk princess, especially when Avril sang “Complicated” and “Sk8r Boi”.

More! More!

People screamed their lungs out when the lights went out. The change in stage backdrop (from a pink skull to a red star) added more thrill to the wailing crowd. Soon, dancers took center stage, with Avril, donned in red top, following them.

Like everyone else, I was ready, waiting for another round of Avril’s performance. Like everyone else, I was at the hype, and in no way will I stop wanting more.

With the previous backdrop and costume change, people expected more from the Canadian punk princess.

But after performing the remix version of “Girlfriend”, she started to thank everyone and said her farewells. Off she went, waving at the audiences who yelled and begged for more.

Camp Rock Spoiler..(ur typical disney flick; but I like it)

Well I just finish downloading the show and since The Jonas Brothers got so much publicity cause of the show I actually thought that Joe Jonas was the main character! Lolx...swt right? Then I watch the show and found out it was actually a girl name Mitchie played byDemi Lovato, whose parents can't afford to send her to Camp Rock, a camp where everyone cheery and happy and dancing to the beat and singing on key and at perfect pitch who hope to find fame in the near future. So in order to get her into Camp Rock Mitchie's mother whose a caterer decides to cook for the camp thus being able to get enough discount to afford to enroll Mitchie for Camp Rock. And of course there's always a Queen Bee! Who comes of the form of perfect pretty blond diva Tess Tyler played by Meaghan Jette Martin who obviously sings that are all "ME! ME! ME!" And one of them is titled "Too cool" and one part of the chorus is "I'm too cool for you." Well I'm not saying her singing is bad...it's actually good..but lyrics is annoying lolx, but that's the whole point.

And Joe Jonas who plays Shane Grey from the band called Connect Three which is completed with both his brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas the totally hot, girls screaming bad boy cause his record label what's him to play cheesy childish pop when all he wants is to sing his song, still pop though but at least it's a mixture of mellow rock from the band called Connect Three which is completed with both his brothers Nate played by Nick Jonas. and Jason played by Kevin Jonas. And he finds himself through Mitchie who pretends to be someone she's not. And of course when the whole camp found out about it they were absolutely furious but Caitlyn Gellar played byAlyson Stonerwhose dreams are to be a music producer got her back. Now here's the interesting bit that connects Shane and Mitchie together is on the first day of camp he overhears a girl on the piano singing a song and sounding like an Angel which inspires him to write songs that he believes and is who he is. And in the end of course he finds her. But at the end of the show it sort of left viewers going so what happens between Shane and Mitchie?! Well Joe (19) and Demi (15) played their characters very well you could really see the chemistry they have for each others character. Especially from Joe's dreamy eyes.

Turns out Demi Lovato is actually a singer and actor! That explains why she sounds so fab. And since she appeared in Camp Rock and is the lead character opposite Joe Jonas from mind you The Jonas Brothers! She has been causing media frenzies. First a lil hoo-haa about they having off set chemistry as well who quite quickly died down. Some even call her the next "Miley Cyrus!" Who so happens to be her best friend. But in my opinion I don't think it's fair to label her as the next Miley..cause they sound so different and I love Demi's smile it's wide and bubbly and her voice honestly is more powerful than Miley's. I like Miley Cyrus but I prefer her acting better.

But hey I'm the girl who prefers rock music and I don't like hip hop or R&B. AND I can't wait for Camp Rock 2!

XOXO

Sad to say

I can't say he was completely wrong cause he wasn't. Yes there are some Christian's who are hypocrites. I'm not saying I'm not, but I'm trying not to be. I'm not saying I'm better than the non believers cause I know I'm not. What I'm saying is, it's possible the reason what he said affected so many people in DQ's blog and enraged them is because what he said hit very close to home. Sure he called me a goth, sure he obviously tried to provoke me into joining in the heated argument but I tried not to, I was tempted to, but thank God I seek him and prayed about it. I'm not saying I didn't diss him or argued with what he said to my friends cause I did. But I'm glad that DQ listen and did what my sis and I told him to do which is just block off further comments. What's the point with continuing on? Everyone has proven their point the 1st time, now their just going around in circles repeating it over and over again.

There will be no end to all these arguments, everyone wants to be right. And the best way to do is to just turn away from it. Let him think we have admitted defeat, let him think what he wants..it's absolutely out of our control. Let God deal with him, cause who are we to judge? We're not perfect ourselves and we have no right to judge him when his also God's creation and so are we.

I'm not trying to be holy, I don't think I'm that holy. But at least I'm willing to let God work in my life and change things about me that I can't change on my own.

That is all.

Avril Lavigne - Runaway

This song always makes me want to throw my hands up in the air and dance around as I sing my lungs out to the song~ *blush* So here's the lyrics to the song that you can listen to on my player and I hope you get the thrill I get from this song.

XOXO
JenN

Got up on the wrong side of life today yeah
Crashed the car and I'm gonna be really late
My phone doesn't work cause it's out of range
Looks like it's just one of those kind of days
You can't kick me down I'm already on the ground
No you can't cause you couldn't catch me anyhow
Blue skies but the sun isn't coming out no
Today it's like I'm under a heavy cloud

And I feel so alive
I can't help myself, don't you realize

I just wanna scream and lose control
Throw my hands up and let it go
Forget about everything and runaway yeah
I just want to fall and lose myself
Laughing so hard it hurts like hell
Forget about everything and runaway yeah

So So is how I'm doing if you're wondering
I'm in a fight with the world but I'm winning
Stay there come closer it's at your own risk
Yeah you know how it is life can be a bitch

But I feel so alive
I can't help myself, don't you realize

I just wanna scream and lose control
Throw my hands up and let it go
Forget about everything and runaway yeah
I just want to fall and lose myself
Laughing so hard it hurts like hell
Forget about everything and runaway yeah

Runaway Runaway……

Not allowed to put whatever nick name I want or even use the words "damn", or I'll get an extremely LOOOONG lecture which can really ruin my morning...big time! Cause I'm not a morning person. And even when I wake up in the afternoons most of the time I get up and am half awake and need to be left alone until I'm fully awake..or else...we all know what will happen next.

Goody two shoes

By IAN YEE

The people opposed to Avril Lavigne’s concert here would be pretty embarrassed when they find out she’s actually more Miley Cyrus than Alanis Morissette.

Why’d you have to go and make things so complicated?

This writer thinks that should be our anthem the next time people try to manipulate a concert for their own political agenda because after watching last Friday’s Avril Lavigne concert at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, those people who were opposed to it would feel pretty embarrassed once they find out what Avril is really like.

It could be our way of reminding them, like “hey you remember when you botched up over that Avril Lavigne concert? Why’d you have to go and make things so complicated?”

The thing is, some obviously uninformed people seem to have this impression of Avril as the angst-ridden teenager, the guitar-trashing punk-rocker or a head-banging junkie.

Oh, please. Don’t tell me you actually thought Avril was like that. Doesn’t mean that because she whacked her Les Paul into some poor guy’s windshield in the Sk8ter Boi video that she’s really some violent, dangerous musician in person? And sorry to shatter all you guys’ dreams out there, but no, she probably doesn’t really skate either.

But I’m telling you, once the 23-year-old Canadian star took to the stage at Stadium Merdeka, the first thing you’d notice was how charming this young lady is. Her voice is almost as sweet as the way she looks, and she never really yelled or screamed to get the crowd going – just cajoling us to sing or wave along.

And when someone as charming as that, singing those annoyingly infectious tunes, asks you to go along with her, you really can’t help but feel compelled to. The 15,000-strong crowd, mostly teens and young adults, were raring for a good night out.

And it really was, a very uncomplicated concert – very simple setting, few musicians, and a few back-up dancers for certain songs. In other words, it was really Avril, which I’m sure was great fun for the throngs of Avril supporters who were there screaming as she went through hits from her three albums.

It started out with a surprisingly subdued, but fun rendition of Girlfriend, and I have to say – Avril is just so adorable! I can’t believe some of those people who protested against her could actually bring themselves to label someone as cute as her, as a threat to our culture and National Day celebrations.

For that first song, she did some of those dance moves fromthe MTV video, and it was just, so, cute! That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the concert as she remained slightly subdued, but yet charming and extremely likeable throughout the night.

I particularly enjoyed the acoustic set in the middle where she showed a bit more of her sensitive side, singing songs like Don’t Tell Me and When You’re Gone. The intimate feel of that part of the concert highlighted Avril’s vocals a bit more, and she managed to deliver pretty well.

Which is why I still don’t really get where this whole assumption that Avril can’t sing comes from. Maybe there’re some YouTube videos of her handling a show badly or something, but on the night, she acquitted herself rather decently. I won’t say she’s a great singer, but she’s definitely good enough to be on stage.

The acoustic set in particular, seemed to be more of Avril’s comfort zone, as she is after all more of a self-taught singer than a professional stage vocalist. The odd difficulty in some big notes aside, I thought she was every bit the accomplished performer. Maybe if she focused more often on her vocals like she did in the acoustic set rather than her jumping around breathlessly to those rock hits, then there’d be fewer accusations of her being a poor singer.

But all in all, I’d have to say this concert was more Miley Cyrus than it was Alanis Morissette in terms of rock factor. And by Alanis Morissette, I mean angry, Jagged Little Pill Alanis. Honestly, I think Miley even packs a bigger punch in her concerts, while Avril is surprisingly, much more intimate, working the crowd by relating with them and talking with them like just another girl next door.

That’s probably the reason why she’s outlasted so many of her peers like Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch. She’s into her third album, and she’s still a bankable star. And that’s because while other female solo artistes out there are more intent on overplaying their celebrity status by being tailed by the paparazzi, or seen at exclusive clubs, Avril prefers to keep it real. And judging by her performance here in Malaysia, that’s something that won’t be changing anytime soon.

If you asked me, that’s the best thing that she can do.

So now tell me again, why’d you have to make things so complicated?
